Journal Entries

I bought a leather journal at a garage sale and allowed myself to draw, make collages and do whatever I felt like doing with pens, crayons, strips of paper, magazine clippings, photos, leaves, grass, bark, found objects and paint. What’s been so much fun is that I am untrained; and I let myself play like I did when I was a child. Usually I put something on the paper: a doodle, a background, a line from one of my poems, then I added whatever intuitively occurred to me to add next. I didn’t have a plan. I didn’t throw an entry away because I didn’t like how it turned out either. Instead of allowing my perfectionist to ruin my experience, I added paint or crayons or collage elements until the entry transformed into something that pleased me. Often I started an entry one day and finished it on another. It’s been very freeing to allow myself to play; and I’ve noticed that I go through periods when I’m exploring a particular medium or shapes or whatever. Again, it’s not on purpose. Now I’m love looking at my journal. And scanning the images allowed me to look at them in new ways. Thus, this blog - a journey of me accepting my own inner guidance and natural abilities.
